Zen is the philosophy of being fully present in the here and now. We are this moment and only this moment. Zen reminds us that when our thoughts are trapped in the past or the future it only creates problems for us and for those around us. Learning from the past so that we can grow is essential, as is a reasonable amount of planning for the future, but the future as we imagine it does not exist, and the unchangeable past is gone. No clinging, no grasping, all that is is right before us. We are sitting, breathing, and blinking. In this simplicity, the joy of acceptance of things just as they are is profoundly felt.
