Historical Folklore
This stone was discovered in Tanzania in 1967. It was found in a mineral deposit near Mt. Kilimanjaro. Its color was revealed by a fire near the deposit, hence its relation to the term “violet flame.”
The name tanzanite was given to this mineral (once referred to as blue zoisite) by Tiffany and Co. after its region of origin.
Geology
Tanzanite is only known to be found in Tanzania. It is blue or violet in coloration.
Chakra Association
This stone stimulates the third eye, crown, and throat chakras.
Care
You can place this stone in full moon moonlight to energize. It can also be moved through sage smoke or incense, placed in rice, or buried in the earth over night.
