These silver Labradorite Pendants each show their own distinct blue flash. The stones are set in a .925 Sterling Silver Bezel that has been handcrafted for each individual stone. They measure 1″ long from the top of the bail to the base of the stone and vary in width very slightly each have a teardrop shape.

Labradorite Folklore | History

This stone is named after its location of discovery on the Isle of Paul, near Nain, Labrador, Canada. It was discovered there in 1770 by a Moravian missionary.

Lore from the  Inuit people states that this stone fell from the Aurora Borealis as a frozen fire.

Geology

Labradorite is part of the feldspar group of stones along with others we carry here such as Sunstone and Moonstone. More specifically Labradorite is a Plagioclase Feldspar making it different than both sunstone and moonstone. It gets its stunning shimmer of colors, known as Labradorescence, from a twinning surface inside the stone. Twinning is one of the many properties found in plagioclase stones. That being said, Labradorite is the only plagioclase stone that exhibits Labradorescence so strongly.

Labradorite Pendant Care

Bathe in full moonlight regularly to energize crystals. Cleanse regularly by placing on a piece of selenite or by moving through the smoke of sage. Remove your Labradorite Pendant daily, allowing it to rest. These pendants are crafted from .925 Sterling silver and will tarnish over time. We recommend using a soft silver polishing cloth to clean the piece and remove any fine scratches.
