Historical Folklore

Abalone shell is sacred to some Native American communities, as it is used in smudging ceremonies. Some are even said to have used this shell as a type of currency in the past.

An Apache tradition known as the Sunrise Ceremony, which celebrated becoming a woman, used Abalone Shells by putting them on the heads of participating girls.

Origin

These shells originate from the Abalone, a group of small water snails. The inner part of the shell is made of mother-of-pearl, or nacre. Abalones are a sought after ingredient for many world cuisines.

This shell is associated with the heart, crown, and third eye chakras. Some believe it can help balance various other chakras.

Care

You can place this shell in full moon moonlight to energize. It can also be moved through sage smoke or incense, placed in rice, or buried in the earth over night.
