Purple is the Pantone color for 2018. They call the color “ultra violet” – Pantone shade 18-3838 – and describe it as the blue-purple of amethyst.

Amethyst CathedralLeatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, explains: “We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level….From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.”

Pantone sends its experts out around the world to analyze the colors that are becoming prevalent in home and beauty, and then releases its analysis as a base for creative use for the year to come. Much of the fashion industry gears its lines to at least incorporate this color. The selected color indicates the emotional (or we would say light field) energies that are affecting the world.

This Pantone announcement is exciting to us, because it is totally aligned with what holistic culture has been stating all along – that we are moving into a new age, one of heightened spirituality, whose color is amethyst purple. Right now we are experiencing the extreme chaos that has to occur to shake up and loosen the old ways so that the new energies can come in.  Working with purple in your own personal environment can profoundly assist you.
