Historical Folklore

This crystal gets its name from the location of its discovery; the Isle of Paul, near Nain, Labrador, Canada. It was discovered there in 1770 by a Moravian missionary.

Inuit lore states that the stone fell from the Aurora Borealis as a frozen fire.

Geology

Labradorite Pebbles

This gemstone is a variety of feldspar belonging to the plagioclase series. It gets its stunning shimmer of colors, known as Labradorescence, from a twinning surface inside the stone. While twinning is one of the many properties found in plagioclase, Labradorite is the only stone of this kind that exhibits Labradorescence so strongly. It is primarily found in Canada.

Labradorite is primarily connected to the higher heart, throat, third eye, soma. It has the capacity to purify, align, and protect all the chakras.

Large Tumbled Labradorite Care

Bathe in full moonlight regularly to energize crystals. Cleanse regularly by placing your Large Tumbled Labradorite on a piece of selenite or by moving through the smoke of sage. These stones can be gently washed with soap and water if necessary.
