Grandmother Dressed in Moss

This Grandmother dressed in moss lives on the Olympic Peninsula, Washington. She has her arms open wide, a smile on her face, and a very strong cord leading from her heart to the open picnic area that she faces.

Grandmother Dressed in Moss

I was on a photo outing with some friends and we were headed to a dawn viewing of a mountain lake. But as we headed down to the water, Grandmother called to me, from a wooded area on the right of the path. I attempted to show interest in the lake, but all I really wanted to do was to go back and speak with Grandmother…finally, Grandmother won and I headed back…

Grandmother is huge and gorgeous in her moss garb, and has claimed a large clear area under her wide-spreading branches. She smiles gently through the woods to the picnic area and parking area beyond, greeting all who drive into this scenic wonder of the Olympic Peninsula. From her heart extends an earth cord, which is unusual in that it is not at all moss covered – as though it were plugged in to some very active spot. I have since seen it on another grand nodal tree – it appears to be a physical manifestation of the “plug in” of these trees to their particular earth energy grid. It is a physical connection from their heart to the earth and to all of us.

I enjoyed walking around Grandmother, studying her from all angles, communing with her, and photographing her for others to enjoy and connect to her nurturing energy!

About an hour later, my friends reappeared, marveling about the sunrise, and I said good-bye to Grandmother!

This original photographic art piece by nature spirit photographer Atala Toy is pigment on paper – available as a 5×7 card with envelope and as a signed 11×14 matted photograph. Both are suitable for framing.
