Coasters | Swedish Dala Horses
The Dala Horse carvings originated in the cities and villages of Dalarna, Central Sweden. These decorative horses began as hand-carvings by men during their isolated winter work in forests. The horse carvings were presented to small children and loved ones when the men returned home. Gradually, the horse carvings were painted in the complex patterns seen today. Over time the Dala Horse made its way throughout Sweden and became a symbol for the entire country.
