The cedar tree is highly revered in cultures worldwide. It is used for protection ranging from temple doors and cedar incense to cedar closets and chests to protect items from moths! It is appropriate, then, that this Cedar scholar lives in a small alcove next to a Council Ring where people come regularly to meditate and discuss community matters. The Council Ring is a significant communications area at The Clearing, a folk school founded by the renowned architect Jens Jensen and located on a Wisconsin bluff overlooking Lake Superior.
