Bear Mound Spirits
Built by some long ago native civilization, this effigy mound is one of many in Devil’s Lake State Park. In the late 1890s, locals began preserving the mounds, uncovering them from wild vegetation. It is believed the mounds were used in ceremony to connect the populace to the energy of the animals and the land.
