Green Tourmaline (also known as verdelite) is an excellent healing stone. It opens the heart chakra, promoting compassion, tenderness, and patience. The nurturing nature of this type of tourmaline creates a sense of belonging and helps you feel joy once again. This stone promotes patience and rejuvenation, turning negative energies into positive and open ones.
Historical Folklore
Tourmaline was once referred to as a “Ceylonese magnet” for its electrical properties.
The Dutch referred to this stone as “ash mover” for its apparent ability to attract or repel ash when placed near a fire.
Some have used green tourmaline to quiet their thoughts and promote a better night’s sleep.
Sometimes, when green tourmaline forms near pink tourmaline, a hybrid of the two colors forms. The newly created stone is called Watermelon Tourmaline.
Geology
The tourmaline family is classified as boron silicate minerals. All stones in this family has a similar crystal structure and chemical makeup but come in a variety of colors. In its rough form, green tourmaline can be very dark green or black in hue. Tourmaline also can be black, brown, pink, red, yellow, blue, blue-green, and watermelon. Green Tourmaline comes from Sri Lanka, Brazil, Africa, the United States, Western Australia, Afghanistan, and Italy.

This stone is associated with the heart chakra.
Care
You can place this stone in full moon moonlight to energize. It can also be moved through sage smoke or incense, placed in rice, or buried in the earth overnight.

This stone is associated with Capricorn.

Green tourmaline is thought to aid the functions of the eyes, heart, thymus, brain, and immune system.
