Jasper Geology
Jasper is a sedimentary stone known as a chert. Found in extensive “bedded” deposits, these stones are unique to wear they are found. Many are named after the geographical area from which they were discovered.
Some jaspers are formed from volcanic ash when it is cemented into a solid material via silica precipitation.
Leaopardskin Jasper is often orange or green in color with spotted patterns on its surface. It has been found in Brazil, Mexico, and Africa.
