The third eye chakra, also known as the brow or sixth chakra, resides one finger length above the nose between and slightly above the eyebrows.  This chakra is the center of intuition and of inner vision.

The third eye may be activated by using iolite.  It facilitates intuition and insight.  This occurs exceptionally well when all chakras are in balance.  Other stones that open this chakra are as follows:

Amazonite:  assist in filtering harmful emf’s and other information which can distort intuitive activity.

Ametrine:  assists in divination activity.

Azurite:  cleanses and stimulates the third eye toward spiritual attunement, and psychic & intuitive development.

Celestites:  Opens one to the universal connection to all things.  Place on third eye during meditation to help one this connection.

Lapis lazuli:  enhances dream work and psychic ability.

Lepidolite:  assists by activating third eye, heart, and crown chakras.

Apophylite:  helps to gently open the third eye. This can be done by lying down and placing it on the chakra area for about ten minutes at a time.

Red Tourmaline: clears energetic blockages in the third eye.

Atacamite

Atacamite, a recently discovered stone, works willingly with the heart chakra, opening the chakra and helps to bring more unconditional love into your life. Sometimes confused with chrysocolla, it may share some of the same properties. Name Ajna Chakra: “Command Center”, Authority, Command, Unlimited Power. Brow Chakra, Third Eye, Eye of Wisdom, Inner Eye Chakra or Command Chakra.
Location One finger above the nose, center of forehead; approximately 2 fingers deep in head, opens forward. Pituitary gland.
Symbol/Yantra 96-petaled lotus. White circle with two luminous petals that are actually 48 petals each.
Basic Principles
Knowledge of being—intuitive. Clear seeing and intuitive sight. Divine sight. Psychic and occult powers are endless. Seeing and becoming go together. Clairvoyance, intuitive knowledge. “Inner wisdom is always available to me.” Realization, austerity, penance, clairvoyance, intuition. Reveals Divine within and reflects divinity within others. See light around head, aura. Ida (lunar current), pingala (solar current) and sushumna meet here: Three Rivers; negative and positive equalized.
Very few people have completely opened their third eye. Even when incomplete, it can function very harmoniously. Active mind, advanced intellectual skills, scientific research, philosophical truths. Visualization, intuition. As it develops, thoughts become based on direct inner awareness of reality. Clairvoyance, sharpened sensitivity, insight into other dimensions reality (during sleep and meditation at first). Chrysocolla is a “feel better” stone. Tranquil and sustaining, this stone is beneficial to women and for creativity. This stone works to align the chakras with the divine, while also calming, cleansing and reenergizing them. Chrysocolla is said to encourage inner balance, create confidence and increase the capability to love. Increasing creativity and enhancing personal power, it also helps to overcome phobias, mental tensions, and helps to keep tempers cool. Chyrsocolla helps to alleviate guilt and bring in joy. Promotes truth telling and impartiality.

 Within the home this stone draws off lower energies of all kinds. Placed over the solar plexus chakra it draws off guilt, and reverses destructive emotional programming. Placed over the heart chakra it heals heart ache and increases the capacity to love. Placed at the throat chakra it improves communication while also helping to know when it is best to stay silent. Place over the third eye chakra, it helps to open vision.
