Blue Papaya – Looking for Some New Leaders

bluepapayawithpropernameWe at ISIC, Crystal Life and Blue Papaya want to thank Tracy Paddy for her four years of Blue Papaya presidency.Tracy is one of the six founding members of Blue Papaya, and took on the task of steering our youth group through its birthing and formative years. A big thank you from all of us to her!

Tracy’s three children have now grown up and Tracy has expressed her wish to retire from active duty! So while there is sadness at seeing our leader depart, there is also pride in what Tracy has accomplished – and an eagerness to see what comes next!

Blue Papaya is a part of ISIC, and it was created to support youth ages 8 to 23 who have expanded perception and who include the Indigos, Crystals and Rainbows. The Blue Papaya leadership, in consultation with these youth, have set a number of goals. These include providing the youth a place to socialize with other youth who have similar sensitivities/capabilities. It also includes providing them with workshops led by experts in some aspect of subtle energy. With no blueprints to pull from, much of what Blue Papaya has been doing is experimental!

So we are looking for new leaders to step forward to work with these amazing youth. The form the new leadership will take is open ended, just like our group. What will it be next? A single leader? Co-presidents or a team? A change to organizing by age groups, with a leader for each?

Blue Papaya leadership currently consists of planning and organizing the meetings and overseeing posts to our Facebook and blog pages. If you live near the Geneva, IL area, and love the idea of helping these interesting youth explore their abilities, contact either Tracy Paddy at media-crystal-life@msn.com, or Tammy Johnson, ISIC President, at ISIC_News@msn.com.

Blue Papaya – Let’s Go Fly A Kite

When I was small my Dad, an Indigo Scout, typically was in charge of my siblings and I for a weekend afternoon. Usually we were out of the home doing something that fit my father’s curious and gregarious nature. On many a chilly winter Saturday we’d shoot the toboggan runs; five small bodies crunched together, screaming in laughter, cheeks and noses red and eyes full of happiness. Or perhaps we’d be exploring a nature park, examining every small thing we’d come across in awe, mindful of nature’s wonders waiting to be found and investigated. Other times we’d visit the wood down the street to study tadpoles, scare one another with garter snakes, or rescue animals we were sure needed only our care and help.

teen-flying-kiteWhen the winds grew high, we’d often journey up the elementary school grounds to fly kites. Our kites were all handcrafted; some with the Sunday funny pages, others with the editorials, and the rest were our drawings, carefully taped together construction paper. The tails were colorful pieces of fabric from my mother’s scrap pile, and of course there was the most important aspect, the wish.

The wish was always something magical, and unselfish, but it was the part that got our young hearts racing, our minds whirling, often making us have the giggles as we wrote them. We never shared them, for we didn’t wish to ruin the magic.  And it was always with great delight when our kite came down and our wish had been carried away by the wind spirits. In the end it didn’t matter if the wishes came true, it was the entire process that brought us joy.

You too can use the wind spirits to help you reconnect with your inner child, have a fun afternoon with your friends and family, and make some wishes for the world. You can make your kite from a traditional kit, find a site online and follow their instructions, or use a kite made from fabric. Once your kite is ready, it’s time to make your wish, or wishes.

Write out your wish three times. The wish can be a simple, “I wish….,” statement or a thank you statement. Tie the wish with sewing thread to the tail or anchor thread and say a personal affirmation as you tie your wish. It should give thanks to the nature spirits for their assistance, and ask them to make the wish results positive for all involved.

Fly your kite for at least 15 minutes, though longer is optimal. Invite over friends and make an afternoon of making your kites, attaching your wishes and then flying your kites so that the wind spirits can carry your wishes away. Some wishes will take longer to come true than others, some aren’t as possible to come true. As your kite and wish fly high, let yourself enjoy the beauty of the day, the different aspects of nature that are helping you with your endeavor.

Blue Papaya – Grounding & Time Machine Guided Meditations

A time of quiet, peace and inner reflection is healthy for everyone. Whether you have expanded perceptions or not, scheduling time in our busy world to meditate allows the individual to stay centered, and in touch with their inner voice and guidance from their team, as well as a wealth of medically proven health benefits.

We’ve heard from many Blue Papaya parents over the years, asking how to introduce meditation to their youth. Like them, if you have never meditated before, you’re probably wondering HOW to meditate, or you’ve at least searched the internet or the bookshelves for information on how to begin meditation and what to expect. We were fortunate to have Tammy Johnson, children’s meditation facilitator, at our last Blue Papaya meeting, in which she shared some simple and fun meditation practices. While Tammy’s schedule did not allow her time to write a blog for our group, she did suggest these two meditations for beginners. We especially had fun listening to the different experiences with the time machine meditation.  If you have a child you’d like to teach meditation to, or are curious yourself, here are two simple meditations that you may calmingly, and soothingly guide your child or a friend through.

guided-meditation-2Choose an area and time where you will not be disturbed. Have the individual listening to the meditation find a comfortable position. Some people like to sit up, while others like to sit with their back against a chair or in a chair, even laying down. I would suggest for these meditations that you sit on the ground with your back supported against a chair or a sofa. If you are guiding the meditation, find a position in which you will be comfortable for the duration of the meditation, and movement will not disturb those you are assisting. Do your best to speak in low tones, and do not rush through the meditation. Make sure you take enough time between each step so proper exploration can occur for those experiencing the meditation. There are questions in each meditation that don’t need to be answered out loud, but it is fine if they are. Please let the individual who is participating in the guided meditation know this. At the end of each meditation is a list of questions, you may wish to write the answers down or draw what was experienced.

Grounding Meditation

onegen-attunement-225x300Close your eyes. You may find it more comfortable to place your hands over your eyes. You choose what’s best.

Take ten deep breathes, letting all the air out as you exhale. Each time you take a breath, your body becomes more relaxed.

Your legs are relaxed.

Your torso is relaxed.

Your arms and shoulders are relaxed.

Your tongue is soft, and your mouth is slightly open.

Every part of you is relaxed.

Breathe in, and as you exhale imagine a beautiful golden ribbon running along your spine.

This ribbon is fluid, and can move outside of your body.

See the cord extending downwards, coming out your tailbone, and twirling downward like a slide until it reaches the very center of the earth.

Feel yourself attached to this cord, and the center of the earth.

Let any unnecessary energy fall down the cord while Mother Earth is sending good, positive energy to you through this cord.

Perhaps you see this as particles, or as images in your mind. Can you hear, feel or see the energy?

I’m going to remain quiet for a time as you experience this.

Notice how clear and clean you feel.

Thank yourself for releasing all unnecessary things.

Take some deep breaths, and open your eyes when you are ready.

After meditation questions.

1. What did your cord look like?

2. Did you see anything go down your cord? Did you hear it?

3. Did you feel anything in your body while you did this?

4. Do you feel different?

5. Do you think you could do this meditation on your own?

Time Machine Meditation

14169277-spaceship-with-astronaut-approaching-a-planetClose your eyes.

See a time machine with a door on it.

What color is the time machine? Do you know what it is made of?

What color is the door?

Open the door to the time machine and step inside, making sure to shut the door behind you.

Look all around the inside of your time machine.

If there is a seat, sit in it and fasten your seatbelt.

There is a button in front of you that turns on your time machine – push the button to on when you are ready to lift off!

Feel the time machine start take off! Relax and enjoy the ride.

The time machine has come to a stop, bringing you to the perfect time for this journey. Undo your seatbelt,  open the door, and step out to this new time and place.

Look downward – notice where are you standing, what does it look like?

What do your feet look like?

Now look at your hands and arms – do you look like yourself, or do you look different in this new place?

Listen, what do you hear?

Look around you and take in your surroundings. Are they familiar, or are they very different?

If you are able, explore the area a bit, see what you learn. Go to where you are instinctively drawn.

Do you know what year it is?

Are there people? If you feel comfortable, greet them and ask where you are.

When you feel ready to leave this place, go back in the time machine and go inside. Fasten your seat belt, set the control dial to HOME, and press the start button.

You are now safely home.

You can open your eyes whenever you are ready.

After meditation questions

1. What did you see?

2. Did someone guide you, provide information and guide you?

3. What were you wearing?

4. What did you look like?

5. Do you know where you were?

6. What year was it?

Blue Papaya – Indigo, Crystal or Rainbow? Part 4 – Traits & Characteristics

We have come to the blog that most of you have been waiting for, traits and characteristics of Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows. You will not find eye color here, hair color, distinguishing birth marks or the like on this list because we acknowledge that those limiting factors are not a reality for the entire population of these individuals with expanded perceptions. They may be traits of an individuals soul lineage, but not of all Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows.

indigochildAs we begin to learn more about the Crystals & Rainbows, we are learning that many of these individuals share the same traits as Indigos though they may achieve these goals through different choices and steps. Therefore, it is currently not prudent to break down traits that are specific to one group of expanded perceptions youth and adults.

This list of questions to ask yourself, a friend or your child are meant to help you recognize that you belong to the greater group of individuals with expanded perceptions, and help you to understand that you are perfect and necessary just as you are.

I’m just not like them.

No matter how well you do or do not get along with others, you know that you sense, feel and obtain information in ways that are different. You may see auras, or sense what someone else is about to do; perhaps you could tell who had a lighter or brighter energy than others.

At Blue Papaya we hear this in every age group, young & old, male & female. Some people don’t even recognize they’re doing it, but we hear the stories from their parents of how they are trying to fit into different groups at school, but not really finding a fit. They truly would like to find a niche, as if being a part of a group will validate who they are.

Every one of our founders has felt this way at one time or another in their life, and we hear it over and over again in youth and adults of all ages. Perhaps there will come a time when this will not be the norm, but for a great many of us, it has been.

“You’re just too sensitive!”

You’ve heard this from more than one person in your life. Your level of sensing and expressing are seemingly higher than those around you, and you know this it is just how you are, and there is nothing wrong with feeling this way, but some just don’t understand you feel deeper.  This is typical of the many Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows, and is a trait of being empathic.

You innately know things.

Have you ever read a book or watched a program on television regarding an ancient civilization and innately know that the current theory being discussed is incorrect?

Have you listened to a lecture about a topic and you can sense that they’re close but don’t have it quite right?

Have you ever watched a program on how the planets were formed, or other science documentary and known what is truth and what needs to be tweaked?

Innately knowing things -this can be about anything – history that you haven’t lived, an introduction to a new topic that you suddenly know about with great clarity, something about a person you just met or saw, being in a new town and knowing where things are with ease and no effort. Even the words to a song from an era you are listening to for the very first time or knowledge in a book you have just found. Perhaps you’ve picked up something, or seen a photograph, and you know things about the person.

This information can come to you in your senses, in your minds eye, or just as knowledge. You might smell the individuals perfume, hear a song that relates to the subject or know that the person who wore the pendant you are holding liked to hum as they cooked for their family, or that they lived in a type of home, or that they are soon to receive good news. The possibilities are endless.

You may even have a past life incarnation come forward to help you understand the people and culture of that life time when necessary.

This is known as Claircognizance or Clear Knowing.

Acute Senses

Your senses – smell, taste, sight, touch, hearing – are more acute than other peoples.

You can hold a man made item and know who created this item, sense their energy.

These things are signs of being an empathic or clairsentient also.

Acute Awareness of the Feelings of Others

This is a trait that I have found in every Indigo, Crystal & Rainbow I have ever encountered in my lifetime.

Do you ever feel dirty after being in a large group of people while out for the day?

Do you avoid concerts, shopping mails or expos so that you don’t have to be in tight quarters?

If you have to go out in a crowded area, do you need a day or two to recuperate after feeling drained afterwards?

Do you know in advance that you need to keep your energy field away from certain people?

You trust that some places “feel” better than others.

Perhaps you can even sense or hear the emotions of animals, or plants, or other seeming inanimate objects that were made from nature.

You know when someone is lying to you.

You can tell when someone lives without integrity.

You know innately when someone should not be trusted.

You trust your gut, even when others try to tell you differently.

You have become upset when someone has picked a flower or leaves on a tree – you know that it hurt the flower or tree.

Have you ever visited a historic place and felt overcome with emotions, scents or sounds from a different time?

Character means more to you than titles, money, or any other patriarchal idea of success.

Highly clairsentient, many Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows avoid crowded places because they are often overwhelmed by the energies of the people, the energy of electrical grids, and the residual energy of a space.

Easy To Speak To

People feel safe around you and are able to talk to you easily.

Complete strangers will talk to you about personal things without consciously intending to do so.

Some people might say you feel like an old friend, while other people will begin speaking to you at the oddest places.

This goes in reverse too – Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows often are able to strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. It doesn’t need to be in-depth, but most conversations are helpful, fun, and put people at ease.

 Sensory Overload

Everyone feels overwhelmed from time to time, but Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows senses can become overwhelmed much more quickly than others because of their magnified perceptions. Any one of the senses can feel overwhelmed, and sensory overload is different for everyone

When the senses start to become overwhelmed it builds until it reaches high levels and the individual affected snaps, unable to handle one more thing in their energy field. Some may believe it is an anger or stress situation, but this is not true. What really is being observed is the individual not being aware of what is happening to them, and needing tools on how recognize and defuse a possible overload well before it happens.

Typically quiet time, more than once a day, is needed to sort the excess energy out, to stay grounded, and to manage the different things that have encountered during the day. If you notice that you, or your loved one tries to find a way to have time to themselves daily, this is a good sign that they know how to manage their needs, and it should be respected, not feared. Being quiet by yourself is a good and healthy thing.

Create Change

We are finding that all groups with expanded perceptions, not just the Indigos, have a very strong sense of social justice, or what is right morally and what is wrong, and will stand up to fight against injustice.

This can take shape in so many different ways, but the fact of the matter is, there is an innate feeling of, “we must change this!” with Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows.

This can be something at school, local government, all the way up to the federal government. Indigos were the heart of the Civil Liberties movement of the 1960′s, and the successive generations have spread these much needed changes to all areas of culture and society like a giant web.

Robert Kennedy said “There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why. I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?”  This line of thinking is very much in line with Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows.

You love to help people.

You wish to soothe people in distress.

You have a passion for helping wildlife or domestic animals.

Creative

You find peace in the arts.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have pursued a career in the arts, but it does seem to be a steady trait of Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows to find solace in some form of creative interest. Whether you are creating through art, music, the written word, the stage, invention, making jewelry or ideas, being creative is a soothing aspect in your life.

 May Be Prone to Addictions

Do you crave food when having a large major emotional issue?

Perhaps you’ve become addicted to exercise, or to feeling better after helping others, yes, this extended to using drugs of any form to help disengage from damping and oppressive emotions and/or situations.

Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows can become addicted to anything if it helps their time on this planet easier. Because of their magnified sensory perceptions, the lack of love in our world is often extremely overwhelming. If their home or school environment is negative, it only adds to their feelings over being overwhelmed. They need a way to escape so that the pain is not so sharp, so deep.

Artificial Product, Food Sensitivities & Allergies

Are there many foods you can’t process well?

Are you gluten intolerant?

Are you voluntarily a vegan or vegetarian?

Did you not want to eat “dead flesh” at an early age?

Must you eat a clean diet? No chemicals, nothing processed, your meat, if you eat meat, must not have been given antibiotics or anything else unnatural?

If you do eat food in which you aren’t sure of it’s origin, does it make you feel off balance, have diarrhea, or an upset stomach?

Those with expanded perceptions typically have some sort of sensitivity to our current food system. It can be slight, or very prominent. Rainbow children typically refuse to eat unhealthy foods very early on – they innately know what is good for them and what is not.

Does man made scents make you ill?

Do you have sensitivities to food and/or clothing dyes?

Are there certain types of clothing you can not wear because they are artificial and cause you to get rashes or just feel wrong on your skin?

Education Dilemma’s

Why do I have to learn this?

Many of those with expanded perceptions question our educational system. This has evolved from early Indigo’s questioning the merits of education to a greater influx of individuals who are making the educational system take a better look at how they teach, and it old methods of our patriarchal society are meeting the needs of our youth.

Indeed, those of you have been labeled with the many different alphabetical abbreviation for “conditions” are actually pushing our educational system to address that we need to adopt different ways of educating, typically because most of the Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows appear to be hands on and very visual learners, right brained learners. Staring at a board in a seat for hours on end is going to seem a very outdated way of educating in the decades to come, and is a very left brained type of education.

Do you innately know that going to university isn’t what is necessary in your life?

Perhaps you attend university, but know that while the credentials will be helpful during your life, in reality they aren’t necessary for what your life purposes are?

This has been a part of Indigos and now Crystals for quite some time. They just know that attending a school of higher education isn’t necessary and yet, some struggle with knowing what is the next step so they can be on the path to achieve their life goals.

Have you been diagnosed with ADD & ADHD?

The Sixth Sense

May Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows see spirit, energy, and yes, as was popularized in the film The Sixth Sense, they even see dead people.

This is especially true when Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows are very young, and tell their parents that there is a monster in their room. They truly are seeing something that isn’t their imagination.

Have you seen things when it would seem there should not be?

Have you had conversations with trees, tables, plants, food, or possibly the air around you?

Can you tell when there is an energy in a room even before you enter it?

Do you drive by a cemetery and know there are spirits, ghosts having a stroll, or perhaps even acknowledging you by waving, raising their hand or by tipping a hat?

In our Blue Papaya group, at it’s very beginning, we had a meeting in which the youth were encouraged to draw an image of unexplainable things they have seen. The parents at the group did the same thing. It was eerly interesting that each member could relate to what someone else had drawn. “Oh I’ve seen that!” “I used to see that in my room all the time!”

Some will out grow this capability as they understand what is “acceptable” in society, while others will learn to turn it on and off as necessary.

Peace

Despite their goal to change our society and to help the human species to evolve to the fourth chakra, and having to take the necessary steps to do so, Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows do not like unnecessary stress or anger.

Indeed they will go far to avoid it at all costs if possible.

Healing

Do you know what someone knows what to do get well?

Can you see the path someone needs to take to find happiness?

Have you been able to touch someone to provide healing?

Do you know how to balance the chakras of others simply by innately knowing how much energy to send to them?

At BP we’ve had some fantastic stories of very young Crystals & Rainbows who are able to heal what are considered serious conditions in the medical world through touch.

Other Things to Consider

You are a free spirit.

You are often told you are “an old soul.”

You were born in the 1960′s

You were born around and after 1980

Please let me know if you have questions! If you have concerns that perhaps a trait or a characteristic is missing, leave a comment. This is a very long list and it is probable that there is something that should be on this list has been unintentionally omitted.

Blue Papaya – Indigo, Crystal or Rainbow? Part 3

Many ask, “Why are there Indigos, Crystals & Rainbow Children?”  You may find varying ideas on this topic, depending on what resources you are using.  One is that Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows are here to do the work of angels here on earth because we have forgotten how to hear them, and follow their advice. And so the Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows have come as Earth Angels in order to carry the messages of the Divine. It is true that there are Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows who feel such a strong affinity with the order of the angels that they feel wings on their back and some even have large wings tattoo’d the entire length and width of their back. But this isn’t the story of every Indigo, Crystal or Rainbow.

blueboywaterIndigos, Crystals & Rainbows are souls from every part of the universe and every realm of earth. Working with the high powers of the universe, they have come together in order to help raise the human vibration by moving us from a society based on power and money (third chakra) to a world based on love and from the heart (fourth chakra).

Because of the universal desire, effort and need to raise this planet to the chakra level that we were always intended to work from, these souls have been born in physical form with different appearances, specialties, traits and life goals – all of which work together to help create the final goal of helping the human species.

There are some really, shall we say, interesting things published as traits of Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows that honesty just are cringe worthy. People who are revolutionaries and bring about change are often misunderstood, so let’s touch on some of these things that have been circulated that don’t ring true with the universe.

Appearance

Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows come in every shape, religion, color, and culture in our world. You may find books that state that Crystals have amazing blue eyes, or that Rainbows have strawberry blonde hair, etc. – please realize that for the goals these souls have taken on to help our species, these limited thought processes are simply not true. In order to help raise the human vibration, these individuals have been born everywhere on our planet, therefore it is illogical that their human genetics would be limited to certain sectors of our species.

Arrogant

Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows are often confident, but they are not arrogant. They do not lord themselves over others, nor do they expect to be treated in a manner that is above anyone else. These youth innately know that we are all created equally, and that no soul is more special than another.

Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows also have a strong sense of right and wrong, and feel compelled to correct anything they have witnessed or heard about so that ethically the light is always helped. Doing what is right and just is never arrogant.

Many people with expanded perceptions do have a strong sense of boundaries, and have a need to enforce this so that they stay healthy in mind, body and spirit. This is becoming especially noticeable in Rainbow children. Asking another to respect boundaries is never a bad thing, and should be honored in everyone and definitely is not arrogance.

I haven’t met an Indigo, Crystal or Rainbow who wasn’t full of humility and working through life just as everyone else is – the best that they can. Does this mean that there aren’t Indigos, Crystals or Rainbows who are arrogant? I’m sure there are, but truly to state that the entire population of these individuals is arrogant isn’t probable, nor is it logical.

“Indigos are Angry”

As an Indigo, when I first came across this comment, I stopped and thought, “Oh really?” and then proceeded to have a good laugh. I personally have not encountered “angry Indigos,” and if there are some that are, well please let us send them all the love and positivity that we can in order for them to heal and more forward in their lives, releasing that anger and become more healthy as they do.

The early Indigos came into our world with a very big task at hand, to break down old ideas and modes of thinking in our world. This is a very difficult task for anyone, but then multiple the ability to feel, hear and sense in a world that is very short on love and very big on power and accomplishment, and it easy to see how some Indigos have exhausted themselves, being a tad jaded, become frustrated at the resistance to change and perhaps even broken by our world’s inability to love. Instead of being judged, these individuals deserve our compassion, and thanks for the tasks they have embraced to improve our world.

Anti – Social

Because of the strong sense and need to hold their boundaries, some may perceive Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows as anti-social. While some Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows are very gregarious and vivacious, there are others who only show that aspect of their personality to those who have proven their trust, love and friendship. In reality, this is a safety mechanism that will help them as they grow and become adults.

Within Blue Papaya, we are finding that a number of the youth with expanded perception are bullied in school. While these youth may be finding their way to our group because we are suited to help them, it does not mean all Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows are bullied. However, it does mean that there is a sector of this group whose extreme sensitivities are evident to others who would prey on them, so their boundaries are even higher than the norm.

Charismatic

Just as it is numerically impossible for all of the Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows to have blue eyes, or a certain type of hair color, it is impossible for each of them to be charismatic. Everyone of these souls is unique, and an individual, therefore their personalities are diverse. Perhaps those who have assumed they are charismatic have only met charismatic Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows, and therefore this is what they know of this group with expanded perceptions. Just as our Blue Papaya group has a large percentage of youth who are extremely aware of bullying amongst their peers and themselves, we can not be foolhardy to assume that all Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows are bullied.

These individuals are drawn to where they need to be at that time, for the universe is working through all of us to help those who are willing to find the help and information they need at this time on their life path. We are blessed to know each of them, and have them touch on our lives.

When reading or searching for information on this diverse group of individuals, remember to use your own gut/vibes/intuition as to what feels right and what feels slightly or greatly off. This journey is different for everyone, and make certain to find your own truth as you travel on this path.

Blue Papaya – When Monsters Call

Children who have “imaginary” friends are most likely labeled as inventive, unconventional, and even precocious in today’s society. We’ve come a long way from the days when children and their childhood chums were discouraged and were considered an embarrassment. But what about those monsters we keep telling children don’t exist?

5039679916_757ba15b11_zIt’s a complex question for some, because they may not have the expanded perceptions their children do, perhaps their gifts are “asleep,” or they simply don’t want to believe there may actually be something in their child’s room that is causing them emotional distress and making them feel “unsafe.”

When I am engaged in a conversation with a parent whose children who are now beginning to see things around the house, there are chuckles over a fairy spotted, or perhaps an angel seen at night by their childs bed, or their imaginary friend wanting to participate in the family meals and car trips.  It seems to be safe when there is no loss of control for the parent on how to handle the situation.  However, bring up the monster situation and the alarm begins to sound.  Often suggestions that are given as solutions do not honor the child, instead they do more harm than good.

A more popular way of handling monsters currently is monster repellent. Spraying a room with a bottle of water and telling the child “monster repellent spray will keep the monsters away” is not a good idea. If the child has expanded perceptions they’re going to still see that what they’ve called a monster is still around and lose faith in their parent, possibly breeding distrust and disbelief. Telling the child they are imagining their monster is even worse to say because you’re telling them not to trust their own senses. If a child is seeing monsters then we should treat them just as we would their so called imaginary friend. The spray was tried by an adult in my household, and it failed miserably. Ironically two children informed the parental figure to please get their money back because the spray didn’t work.

So what are more positive choices and actions in such situations? Some are practical maintenance of the home and an awareness of the energies around us, while others are as simple as treating the child with the same level of respect as we desire when we have been going through something distressful.

Clearing a room, indeed a home, is always a necessity, and a tool that works better than that bottle of water some like to call “monster spray.” Please read my Blue Papaya blog, The Home Environment to get tips on how to clear a home or room.  Children with sensitivities usually need to have this done weekly or bi-weekly, regardless of where you live, or other environmental probabilities.

Clearing should definitely be done if you are living in a new home or in an apartment, due to energies that may have been left behind from previous tenants and/or owners.  Another consideration is if you or your parenting partner may be working in an environment that may bring home unwanted “guests” to your home. This is especially true for those who work at hospitals, work as EMT’s, fire fighters and various levels of law enforcement. Social workers, case workers and other jobs that require the adult to enter into communities or situations in which the energy is less than good may allow this attachment to come home with you. A good practice is centering and protecting your energy before you enter the environment and clearing when you leave.

When your child tells you there is a monster, please believe they’ve seen something. It may be a bad dream, but until you’ve investigated the situation further, you must take them at their word. Learning of this situation in the middle of the night isn’t always easy,  there are no quick ways to get to the heart of the matter but obviously this is a situation where the child’s needs must come first.  If this situation arises in the middle of the night, please remove your child from the area and let them sleep with you until everyone is in a better mind to discuss what happened sensibly.

Discuss the monster situation with your child someplace neutral in your home, not where the monster was seen. Perhaps take time to draw or color with them and ask them what happened. Often children know where the monster came from (closet, hallway, etc) and can give some interesting details to the situation. Perhaps draw a monster from your childhood and encourage the child to draw you their monster. Help them to see, if applicable, that you too have seen things that you cannot explain.

Next take some time when your child is not with you and sit quietly in the room where the monster was spotted and ask for help in understanding the situation. After a time you might ask to speak to the Deva of the room and ask for information that will help you to understand what your child has seen.

When we moved into a new home it was my son’s room that was the hot spot of “dark man” and monster material. The children were consistently seeing a dark energy that had red eyes and on occasion they saw other energies that were unexplainable. They also feared my son’s closet and after further investigation I realized that his closet was a vortex energy point, negative in energy. Many of the energies they were sensing were just moving through this vortex, using it as the universe intended and we have a positive vortex point in our side yard that actually extended into our living room. These were vortexes that needed to stay in balance, so we asked that the vortex users to please not linger, but rather to use the vortex in a manner that wouldn’t disturb the children, such as not exploring the house when they planned on exiting or entering the vortex.

I then explained to the children what was occurring, and to be honest, they were more interested in the things they were seeing in the positive vortex than the negative.  Once they understood that things must be held in balance, they were more at ease. I then worked with them to teach them how to ask their guides for protection through the night.

Through it all the kids were given information at a level that was respectful, honest, and understandable. There were no wrong questions, everything was answered, even with “I’m not sure” or “I don’t know.”  But they were assured that they were not wrong in their perceptions and that they had a parent committed to helping them to understand the situation as best as possible. In our situation this has helped them to trust their expanded perceptions, especially when we compare notes and delight in the fact of how differently we perceive the same things.

Make sure to talk to your child honestly and evenly about their monster situation. You might even take the time to sleep in their room to get a feel for what happens during the night in that area of your home. Some children will tell you what a monster says, and in my experience, it’s often very benign. Clear the effected area regularly, and, of course, be prepared to be woken in the night.

Above all it is imperative that the child is believed. Even if you cannot say that you believe them, or see them, it does not mean that they aren’t real. Most likely what they’re seeing is real, and whether or not these extended perceptions stay with them for their entire life, or it’s just for a short time, we need to honor and respect what the child is seeing and feeling.

We Are Not Alone

We Are Not Alone

I would suggest reading “We Are Not Alone” by Atala Toy for those of you wishing to have a greater grasp as to why we need to maintain a balance between positive and negative energies, and what they are here to teach us.

Nature SpiritsHer latest release, “Nature Spirits, Spirit Guides, & Ghosts” (published by Quest Books) is a delightful and easy read, and will provide many insights regarding the various energies you or your children may be perceiving.

Authors Note: This blog was difficult to write simply because there are SO many different  and more in-depth situations that arise with youth and their evolving perceptions. I am sorry if the advice given here does not cover your experience with this topic, but I am very open to hearing your stories and suggestions of positively handling this topic.

Blue Papaya – Are you an Indigo, Crystal or Rainbow? Part 2

When we speak of Indigos, Crystals and Rainbows at Crystal Life, we most often mention expanded perceptions as a gentle way of saying these individuals feel, sense and perceive at much heightened levels. Having expanded perceptions, and being aware of your sensory capabilities, means that you may perceive through all your senses, just one, or a variety. These expanded perceptions of the new consciousness souls fall into many different capabilities. They are familiar to many, but remember as we explore these perceptions they are heightened to a level that many cannot fathom, and this is what makes these individuals’ perceptions extraordinary and so fascinating.

Indigo_Child-1Many Indigos, Crystals and Rainbows are either empathic, or clairsentient. What’s the difference? An empath is an individual with the ability to sense and feel the emotions and energies of people, animals, plant life or objects at a distance. A clairsentient person is able to perceive energy fields, including a person’s aura and vibrations (such as voice and how words are strung together). Clairsentience is also known as “clear feeling” or “clear sensing.” This ability encompasses an empath’s gift of sensing and feeling another person’s or animal’s emotions and energies. It also encompasses the ability of psychometry, which is the ability to read the residual emotions and energies imprinted on inanimate objects.

Empathy and clairsentience are within the same spectrum of gifts, which are those of feeling or sensing the emotions and energies of the world around them. But clairsentience is a broadened form of empathy which encompasses a wider field of sensitivities – expanding beyond just the emotions and/or energies of other people and/or animals. Many Indigos, Crystals and Rainbows have these abilities in varying degrees. Those who are considered Whisperers fall into this expanded perception category.

The term clairvoyance, or clear vision, indicates that an individual has the ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses. Clairvoyant is “one who sees clearly.” Another definition of clairvoyance, or clear seeing, is the gift of second sight. Clairvoyance is a visual form involving the perceiving or intuiting of information by way of seeing auras, colors, images, or symbols via third eye senses.

Claircognizance, also referred to as clear recognition or clear knowing, is the ability to know something; no-one has to tell them and it is not something that they’ve read before, they just simply know it. It is an inner feeling, gut feeling, something which is just known. These individuals have an ability to answer questions and back them up with facts when before they did not know anything.

For claircognizants, their higher self or spirit guides put information (in the form of thought) into their mind. This can be a whole load of information that is “downloaded” into the mind. It can be smaller insights about people and situations here and there. It can be an inspired idea. All claircognizance is characterized by this strong sense of knowing that goes beyond logic and by the fact that the intuitive information comes into the mind, not into the heart or the mind’s eye.

You may be claircognizant or intuitive and have an inner knowing about things if the information, idea, concept or thought “just comes to you” and has the feeling of “this is important.” The knowledge you receive often flashes suddenly into your mind seemingly “out of nowhere.” You may know who is on the phone before you answer it or know personal things about people you just met. You just know something, although you may not know why or how you know it.

Clairaudience is “clear hearing.” It is defined as the act or the power of hearing something not present to the ear but regarded as having objective reality. Clairaudience can include hearing sounds such as music or ringing, as well as voices. Like clairvoyance, clairaudience can be divided into two types: objective clairaudience, which occurs in the real world so that anyone can hear it (meaning outside of ones head), and subjective clairaudience, which occurs only in one’s mind. It should be noted here that it is believed that objective clairaudience, is considered a far rarer gift than subjective clairaudience.

Some Indigos, Crystals and Rainbows can literally sense and/or see the grids of our planet. These individuals can sense where things should lay, what disturbs the flow of energy and what enhances the energy. In many ways they are here to help our earth to become stronger and healthier.

These are just some of the basics of what those with expanded perceptions are capable. These gifts are often subscribed to all those with sensitivities, but keep in mind that for these individuals the gifts are much more magnified than in other generations. The clarity of these gifts is also based on how healthy the diet of the individual is, what type of environment they live in, and their ability to ground fully to our planet.

In our next blog we’ll discuss some common misconceptions about Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows and also why they are here.

Blue Papaya – Are you an Indigo, Crystal or Rainbow? Part 1

Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows. These terms spark something within for so many people: curiosity, intrigue, interest, an inner knowing. Then there are the questions – Am I one? What capabilities do they have? What are they here for? Why is this kept so quiet? Here’s some help for those who are curious and seeking answers.

childblue-1The term Indigo came from the aura color of new conscious youth encountered by Nancy Ann Tappe and the term was coined in the 1970′s. Ms. Tappe began noticing these youth in the mid-1960′s, but in truth Indigo’s had been around for a very long time.

There are “groupings” of different stages of new consciousness individuals, but Indigo has become the common term for anyone who has perceptions that are expanded.

What are expanded perceptions? This term means that an individual is able to perceive energies beyond what is currently considered the norm by society. These individuals see, hear and feel at levels of awareness that are more acute than the average individual.

 Light Workers

Light Workers have been coming to our planet ever since its inception. Their goal is to spread love wherever it is needed. They are very sensitive, and are inwardly compelled to try and make the world a better place before they leave this earth. Their ultimate goal is not only personal growth, but a global mission to spread and teach about love, to assist others on their mission to find love.

If you aren’t an Indigo, Crystal or Rainbow, but are extra-sensitive, and have an innate desire to help others in a positive and loving manner, you are a Light Worker.

Indigo Scouts

Indigo Scouts have been coming to the earth for centuries to determine the level of readiness for the eventual arrival of Indigos in mass waves. These men and women had positions in all fields of life so that all levels of readiness could be determined. They may have been teachers, professors, Scout leaders, psychologists, physicians, nurses – the list is endless. The most important thing is that in some way they were nearly always involved in activities that supported youth, and this was a large passion for them. The recent wave of Indigo Scouts are either quite elderly or have passed from this life. They exhibited many of the different personality traits of Indigos, the only difference being that they arrived early to help set up their arrival.

Indigos

Indigos have come in two waves, the first being in the late 1940′s and 1950′s, the second wave began in 1980.  The first wave of Indigos is largely responsible for many of the changes in society in the 1960′s. Think on those from the 20th century who set about great change for society – to allow more freedoms for all – and you’ll see examples of Indigos.  The civil rights movement was liberally populated with Indigos. The Kennedy family, with their call for our countrymen to rise up and help their fellow man and the world through the Peace Corp and other venues – these are ideas of Indigos & Indigo Scouts. The hope for more love in the world by this generation, for working together for a common good and fellow man – these are examples Indigo mentalities.

Indigos are visionaries of change, soldiers for doing the right thing, sensitive souls who want to create a better world for all.  They are slightly fiery, sensitive to the greater good for all, and above all believe in fairness, compassion, justice and balance for every soul on our planet. Indigos were never meant to conform, Indigos are all about bringing about change – changing the old laws and rules that are outdated, creating a more open society in mind and in heart. The wave of Indigos that began arriving in mass about 1980 are now over 30 and are helping to raise the next generation of souls who they were brought here to pave the way for – the Crystals.

Crystals

Crystals are one of the energies who came in with the Indigos, and arrived more frequently after the Indigos began to slow in arrival. The Crystals are the next wave of energy, and they are a mix of even more finely-tuned souls. Crystals are generally under the age of 30. Their major difference from Indigos is most notably they don’t feel the need to buck against the system quite as much or in the same manner the early Indigos did.

Crystals can have Indigo traits, and this is most likely why some individuals continue to believe that Indigos are still arriving in mass. This is also exhibited in the number of Crystals engaging and finding resonance in the Occupy movement across the world.

Crystals are about acceptance – an open heart to all. Their perceptions are more expanded than Indigos, often seeing, hearing, and feeling at a level that is astounding and a tad frightening for the adults whom they have chosen as their parents.  When they are young, these gifts are often shared freely, but as they move into our manmade society and culture of old modalities, they see that not everyone is like them, or has a family who openly supports their unique and beautiful souls with love and acceptance.

Crystals more often than not are sensitive to processed foods, to chemicals, even to such things as elastic or types of synthetic fabrics.  A clean diet is often essential to all children of the new consciousness. Many parents find the behavior of these youth improves, as well as their grades, when their diet is improved and all processed foods, glutens and dairy are removed. Time spent in quiet is also crucial. They need time to disengage from the world, and engage in activities that produce a natural relaxed, hypnotic-like state. Here they will find center, and it will also allow for their gifts to emerge nicely. Meditation can be used at an early age if it is appropriate for the individual Crystal in question.

Rainbows

The next wave of consciousness will be the Rainbows. In fact, they are already here. We have Rainbow visitors from time to time at our Crystal Life Youth Group, Blue Papaya. While they are too young to attend regularly, their energy is delightful and very joyous, their gifts sharp and extremely astute.

Rainbows will prove over time to have either finer subtle energy perceptions than Crystals, OR they may be something altogether different than Crystals. Those that I have had the pleasure to personally know are already very clear about boundaries in all regards of their life. Most are self imposed vegans, and have even given their parents lectures on the importance of dead flesh not being a part of their diet. They strongly feel the need to have a plant and fruit based diet because they innately know these energies are vital to their life force energy and optimal health.

These individuals are strong and clear in their ideas while at the same time their firm and clear boundaries are set with tact and harmony. They inherently know what is right for their life journey and need to have parents who are wise enough to listen with an open heart and respect for their individuality. Rainbows are unbending diplomats when it comes to their life choices and path – their good nature shines through their steely and resolute core. These souls are a good mix of what the Indigos hoped to accomplish – individuals with strong inner strength with a loving, heart-centered delivery.

These souls are from far and wide within our universe and have intentionally set up their lives so that they can use their gifts to assist not only the other souls of earth, but Mother Earth herself.  Do not be surprised if these are the individuals who know how to use their energy to manipulate matter so our water, air and earth are once again clean, pure, and restored in healthy ways that have not been used since very ancient times. These are brave, courageous souls who will tackle our planet’s issues in ways that we have only been able to imagine in science fiction.

In Part 2 we will discuss the different types of expanded perceptions Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows have.

Blue Papaya – Sowing The Seeds of Love

“The child must know that he is a miracle,
that since the beginning of the world there hasn’t been,
and until the end of the world there will not be,

another child like him.”~ Pablo Casals

The youth and adults of the new consciousness work from the heart center to prepare our world for its upward step from a third chakra based world to the fourth chakra, the chakra of love. For some there is an expectation that Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows must be charismatic, magnetic and vibrant. These individuals come to our planet to experience all the lessons that non Indigos, Crystals & Rainbows must work through, only with heightened gifts and added abilities. Therefore they go through life much like the rest of us, only with more sensitivities and awareness.

ninoindigo

These brave and evolved souls are choosing to tackle heavier vibrations in order to teach, and to awaken our world.  Some have chosen harsher paths intentionally, and others are simply too overwhelmed by the denser and less loving energies of the planet to move through life with ease. This happened with the Indigos and continues to occur with Crystals & Rainbows.

How do they cope? It’s all very much on a case by case basis, each individual finding their own way to manage, just as humanity has always done – only with more sensitivity to the energies involved.  Some choose to disengage from the energies which overwhelm them, while others throw themselves whole-heartedly into arenas society would deem as poor choices: drugs, gangs, or perhaps alcohol abuse. Other individuals choose isolation in order to survive these intense energies. Some happily pursue activities quietly, while others experiment with their appearance to show their uniqueness. Each choice is unique to the individual and their ways of processing the energies of our planet.

How can we be a part of this change? By opening our hearts and rising to the task. By taking time to be there in ways that may be large and small, showing kindness and speaking from your place of compassion and love. Sincere interest and kindness brightens anyone’s day, but when you are in a place where you feel camouflage is the only way to exist safely, tiny seeds regularly and positively given can bring about miraculous benefits to everyone involved.

It is important that society begin to drop outdated modes of how people should be and just accept all souls as they are. Just because someone is different, or they test levels of comfort does not mean they are unimportant, to be feared, or to be valued as lesser than others. They are not lost, they are not wasted; they are loving energies who need love and assistance more than they need any condemnation or fear attributed to them. Being able to consciously see each individual in this manner is a great lesson in love and tolerance.

Remember, sometimes the individuals who give us the biggest challenges, test our limits of patience, control and understanding are really the ones who require the most pure love and compassion, and who in turn expand our hearts and minds to understand real, complete love.

The next time you are about interact someone who isn’t the mainstream, perhaps even makes you uncomfortable for reasons you don’t quite understand, take a deep breath, listen to your heart and take a greater interest in the brave soul in front of you who dares to be different in order for our world to become a better place.

One person can make a difference, and everyone should try. – John F. Kennedy

Blue Papaya – My Journey For Peace With Food

This week we have a guest blogger, Kaylene Shannon. Kaylene will be leading our Blue Papaya this Friday night, March 15. The meeting will be about food and how it affects your energy. This will be a hands on meeting, the youth will be learning three different recipes, including juicing. We’ll be meeting in the same building as Crystal Life, just in a different area. We’ll be upstairs for this meeting, please use the second door from Third Street in the alley way.

_________

My search for peace with food began a long time ago. I was very young when some unexplainable health issues began popping up for me. At that time I was having rashes and some reoccurring swelling in my throat. These were the days when I ate the “Standard American Diet” which consisted of Market Day foods, Kraft products and junk food galore. It was all we knew. No one thought at the time that when illness surfaced the first thing you can and should look at is your diet! After all, my mom was a single mother with four children to feed. We were quite content to be fed a warm meal of any kind.

485994_10151277094766160_762146053_nThen I blossomed into adolescence and I was faced with the same challenges that most young girls face, the dreaded body image. This further confused me and led me even further away from a place of peace with food. I ate very little in those years and only what I thought would not make me fat! I felt depressed and anxious most of the time. I wasn’t getting the right nutrients to nurture my growing, changing body and mind. My health suffered severely. As I worked my way through a full-fledged eating disorder, I developed some severe digestive issues (I’ll spare you the details here). Let’s just say that the Western doctors diagnosed me with “irritable bowel syndrome,” adding to my list of unexplainable health issues. My stomach hurt every day and no one knew why or could really help me in anyway. I was sick and miserable.

It must have been around the time I was a senior in high school when I read the book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. That book changed my perspective about food completely! I was introduced to the horrors of the meat packing industry and vowed never to eat flesh again! And so I became a vegetarian for about seven years. During that time, I was sicker than ever, very confused and completely disillusioned. I started getting daily headaches, regular migraines and had chronic neck and shoulder pain in addition to the digestive issues and the insanely itchy rash which would not go away. In 2004 I had a very evasive surgery that the Western doctors thought would cure me of my issues. It did not work at all and instead I was faced with a difficult recovery in addition to everything else I was dealing with.

It’s times like these when we are brought to our knees that we finally see a glimmer of Light, and so it was with me. In early 2006, not long after I got married, I finally took one GIANT step towards peace with food. I stopped listening to what everyone else thought about what was right for me and I started listening to my body and my Higher Self (both very wise entities). Somewhere along my journey, I had found yoga and meditation which helped me to learn the truth about who I am, what love is and why I am here. I was finally able to stay connected to that part of me which could discover the answers I needed or, as I like to call it, I discovered my Higher Self! I knew that I could no longer be misled! At long last I had made my peace with food.

Since then, it has been a process of trial and error and still is. In 2007, I discovered that I had many severe food allergies including: gluten, dairy, soy, food coloring, chemicals, molds and many other things that I didn’t know existed! As it turns out, I’m a rather sensitive person. This, of course, I’d always known but now was medically proven.  I had a lot of work to do in order to get well.

I started by reading food labels and paying close attention to what I put in my body and on my body. I listened to my inner guidance and discovered what foods made me feel good. As it turned out, the foods which were produced in a way that aligned with my beliefs seemed to make me well. When I ate meat and dairy that was produced in a way I believe to be unethical, I would get sick. But when I ate organic, farm raised meats and dairy I felt good. You could say that I started to feel the energy of the food I ate. You really do become what you eat!

If you are eating an animal that was injected with hormones, tortured and abused, and you are a highly sensitive person, you will be affected by that on many levels. So, I started eating gluten-free grains and included much more fruits and vegetables in my diet, as well as organics and humanely-raised meats, poultry, eggs and dairy. Once I felt the difference in my energy and my health improved, the choice to eat in a more conscious way was easy for me. It required me to seek a lot of information, talk with like-minded people and read up about the foods I eat and the products I use. I also studied about herbs and minerals which could continue to help me heal. I learned which preservatives were chemically derived and what my body could and couldn’t tolerate and when. I started cooking A LOT! I’ve learned so much and I’m so grateful for the valuable lessons which have changed my life and helped me to inspire other people to change theirs.

After I had my two kids, they, like me, showed signs of sensitivity to food. I worked and continue to work hard to prepare and serve them food to nurture their growing minds and bodies. This sometimes, actually very often, means that we are the odd balls. It’s not easy to eat the way I do at restaurants, weddings, social functions and (especially for my kids) at school.

As Indigos, Crystals and Rainbows, we are used to being put in the position of being “different” and “strange” so none of that was new to me but that doesn’t mean it is easy. My family eats and lives in a way that is very different from the majority of people I know. I often have to explain to friends and family what I am eating and why in a way that they can understand. People ask me a lot of questions. Many people are curious and would like to try making some healthy changes in their own lives. Other people think I’m crazy, and that is ok too!

It’s a process of exposing people to a new way of living that they might not be ready for yet but one day might appreciate. It is, after all, the Golden Age and we are indeed, very rapidly, becoming more conscious and aware. It’s kind of like we literally and figuratively are no longer able to digest foods that are not aligned with the energy of who we really are, which is Love.

It seems like it’s difficult to live like I do but it really isn’t. That is the illusion. It’s just a simple choice. It’s a choice to eat foods and use products which serve the greater good. So I choose to eat things and use products that will heal instead of cause harm to my body and the planet. Does this mean that I never indulge or that I live a deprived life? Absolutely not and neither do my kids! We eat everything we desire. It’s just usually the more pure, healthy version of the food. I use the power of my intention aligned with Love to infuse the food my family eats with good energy. Interestingly, I find that the further I get from the “Standard American Diet” the less I crave it. I don’t look at Dunkin’ Donuts and start salivating anymore. I would never scarf down a bag of Cheetos the way I once would have. In fact, when I look at those kinds of foods, they barely look like food at all to me because I know too much! It seems to have become my mission and calling to help others along this path.

Looking back now, it is clear to see how my struggles, trials and tribulations all added up to me becoming the person I am today. I’m blessed to be in a position where I can practice being the change I wish to see in the world. I’ve recently gotten courageous and decided to put myself out there so that I can share with the world what I know and understand about spirituality and holistic living. Last month my husband helped me launch Tickle Body Care, a company that makes all natural and organic powder deodorant. I also authored my first children’s book called The Light Inside to help “children” of all ages stay connected to their “Light.” If I’m not busy doing those things or keeping up with my two kids, you’ll find me teaching yoga to both adults and kids at a local suburban studio. At one point (I believe it was while I was still on my knees..) I prayed that my life and work be used in a way that serves humanity best. How grateful I am to be working each day to fulfill my purpose. My journey is not actually over but from where I stand I can honestly say that things are really spicing up!! I can only wonder where the road will take me next.

Blessings to each of you on your journey back to Peace. Not just with food but with Yourself and the entire Universe!

Namaste
